The Allermöhe ecological settlement is one of the pioneers of ecological settlement construction in the Federal Republic of Germany and was the first ecological settlement in Hamburg.
Numerous ecological building details have been implemented in the settlement, which can be found in different forms in and on the individual houses and courtyards. At the same time, they also reflect the technical development in ecological building. This diversity of ecological construction details is connected by both the composting toilet installed in every house and the jointly operated and used plant-based sewage treatment plant (STP). One of its most striking features is that the entire settlement can manage without its sewage being discharged into the public sewer system.
